FA Cup draw RECAP: Find out who YOUR team will face in the second round proper

Salford City have been rewarded with a home tie against Hartlepool United in the second round of the FA Cup.
The Class of 92 owned non-league outfit overcame Notts County in the first round, and will again face league opposition.
Elsewhere, there is a tasty-looking Lancashire derby between Rochdale and Bury, while Carlisle United face another marathon trip after facing Plymouth in the first round, away at Welling United.
But who did everyone else get? I hear you cry.

Reaction from FC United

FC United striker Mike Norton reacts to the news his side will face a tie against League One high-fliers Walsall should they beat Chesterfield this evening.
“It is a good draw,” he said. “We’ll have to see how we go on today but it’s definitely a good draw.
“We wanted to get a big team and one of the best left in the competition and that is what we have got.
“Rochdale vs Bury will be a good one, we would have liked one of them, but Walsall will be a good one.”

Reaction from Salford

Salford striker Danny Webber has reacted to the news the Ammies will take on Harlepool in the second round.
He said: “More than anything, I am delighted that we are at Moor Lane again. We have another League Two side which we know will be tough.
“Pooley (James Poole, player) wanted Hartlepool in the first round because he used to play for them, so he will be delighted with that draw I am sure.
“I’m delighted with the draw, it’s another chance to prove ourselves and prove our quality with another night or day at Moor Lane.
“Every football game I go into I see as winnable. I don’t go into any game and see opponents as better or worse than anyone else.
“The bottom line is that they are above us and we have to respect that. We just have to focus on what we do and not them so much.”

Pitch invasion. Classic FA Cup

Gary Neville threw party for Salford heroes

Gary Neville threw a big boozy bash for Salford City’s FA Cup heroes on Friday night.
Neville, who part-owns Salford alongside other members of the Class of ‘92, was so overwhelmed by their stunning win over Notts County, he took the team straight back to Hotel Football for a party.
Salford produced the performance of a lifetime to knock League Two Notts County out of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win.
Initially, Salford’s stars were going to have an FA Cup drinks in the clubhouse of their Moor Lane home whether they won, drew or lost.
But after dominating County in all departments, Neville wanted to treat the non-league minnows to a night of celebrations.

Sunday's FA Cup round-up

Chesham were the most notable giant-killers in the FA Cup first round on Sunday as the seventh-tier outfit pulled off a shock 1-0 victory at League Two Bristol Rovers.
The visitors passed up the opportunity to open the scoring in the 29th minute as Dave Pearce’s penalty was saved by Lee Nicholls, but Ryan Blake then struck in the 77th minute to secure a famous win.
Meanwhile, it was an historic afternoon for sixth-tier Whitehawk as they reached the second round for the first time with a thrilling 5-3 home triumph against National League side Lincoln.
The hosts went 2-0 up through Danny Mills and Jake Robinson, before Matt Rhead’s penalty reduced the deficit.
Sam Deering and Rhead exchanged efforts to leave the score at 3-2, and Dave Martin extended the lead with a few minutes to go.

Salford hero: Bring on the big boys

FA Cup hero Richie Allen hailed his Salford City wonder goal as a “miracle” - and warned the rest of the competition: “Bring it on!”
Allen scored a sensational second for Salford, leaving three defenders for dead as he put the Class of ‘92-owned side 2-0 up against Notts County.
It was the fourth time this season that Salford defeated a team from a higher level to progress in the FA Cup.
Goalscorer Allen, who played in the Football League for Fleetwood Town, even says that his goal tops when he won the FA Vase at Wembley with Kirkham and Wesham (now known as AFC Fylde).
Talking through the stunning solo effort, he said: “I had the ball and I was trying to do something with it, but I was just going further and further away from goal. I’d have been at the corner flag if I would have carried on any further.”
